Hybrid Electrical Power Generator
Energy and Environment
The HEGU, which stands for Hybrid Electrical Generation Unit, was conceived as an aesthetic charging station for hybrid cars that could potentially serve as a portable generator for disaster areas, too. HEGU was inspired by the Cal-Cars Initiative, which aims to use less fuel when driving a car. Standing 25 ft. tall, the HEGU prototype-power tree includes a 632-watt solar panel, 400-watt wind turbine, 6000-watt bio-diesel generator, 2400-watt inverter and marine batteries (which were slated to be replaced by lead-acid batteries).
